In summer

If you like hiking, beautiful sceneries are within easy reach.
Cirque de Gavarnie, Pont d’Espagne or Lac de Gaube are absolutely essential.
Cirques de Troumouse and Estaubé, Marcadau and Lutour valleys should not be missed.

Keen cyclists will be challenged by the legendary passes of Tourmalet and Aubisque, or by the steep climbing to Luz-Ardiden and Hautacam, all within a radius of 25 km.

Children will discover local wild animal life in “La Colline aux Marmottes” Park (5 km) or the birds of prey conservatory and falconry show at “Le Donjon des Aigles”(2 km). The place is well situated for other outdoor pursuits, including golf, rock climbing, rafting, canyoning, paragliding, water parks...

In winter

Major downhill ski resorts, such as Luz-Ardiden, Cauterets, Barèges-La Mongie or Gavarnie are within 30 minutes drive, the beautiful little resort of Hautacam is only 20 minutes away.

For cross-country skiing, Val d’Azun resorts (Couraduque and Soulor) offer 110 km of prepared trails. Other possibilities, Pont d’Espagne (36 km) and Hautacam (15 km).
For those who are not familiar with skiing, snowshoeing is another alternative to enjoy nature in winter time.

And all the year round…

Many Spas in the valley offer relaxing breaks (underwater massages, bubbling baths, showers…) to recover peace of mind and energy.

Lourdes and its worldwide known sanctuaries is 15 minutes away.
Pau (50 min.), where you can visit the King Henri IV Royal Castle and wander in the old town.
And within a stonethrow from there, Jurançon vineyards.

Other possibilities, the Pic du Midi de Bigorre astronomical observatory, the caves of Betharram or Médous, the National Stud Farm in Tarbes, the old village of Saint Savin and its beautiful Abbey Church, or the Templar Church at Luz-Saint Sauveur.

Food

Local markets provide fantastic produce: local lamb, Bigorre black pork delicatessen, sheeps’ cheese, foie-gras, duck confits, “tarbais” beans and the traditional cake cooked on a spit. You can also taste those specialties in the excellent local restaurants and traditional “auberges”.

Some very interesting wines complete the gastronomic offer of our region: Madiran, Pacherenc de Vic-Bilh, Tariquet.
